How to export Jira issues to Excel, CSV or PDF
Jira Cloud can export search results to CSV out of the box. Here is how, and what to do when you need more than that.
Option 1: the built-in Jira export
- In Jira, go to Filters and run a search (basic or JQL), or open a saved filter.
- Choose the columns you want in the issue list.
- Open the Export menu and pick a CSV option (all fields or current fields). The available options can vary with your Jira version and admin settings.
- Open the CSV in Excel or Google Sheets.
Tips: CSV files with non-English text may need to be opened with UTF-8 encoding in Excel. Large exports can be limited by your site's settings, so split big searches by project or date with JQL, for example project = ABC AND created >= -30d.
Option 2: an export app
If you need native Excel files, PDF, comments, attachments, reusable templates or scheduled exports, an app can help. Pledona Export for Jira exports the current JQL search, a saved filter or selected issues to Excel, CSV or PDF, includes comments and attachment links (plus an optional attachments ZIP), handles Chinese, Japanese and Korean text, and can deliver recurring exports in Jira. It runs entirely on Atlassian Forge, is free for up to 10 users, and is pending Atlassian Marketplace review.
